6/8/13:
Lets just say that "sweating for the wedding" took on a literal meaning today. I think I pretty much look like I took a inpromptu swim in my workout clothes, but really running during a Florida Summer pretty much makes you look like a "hot, sweaty mess". Since its probably been a good 6 months since my last long run, I had forgotten the pain the undergoes a "long run". Lets just say I was less than thrilled when what I thought was going to be this "epic first training run" turned into a a walk/run kind of adeventure after the 5k mark. However, when I came to the crossroads to take a turn for 6.5 mile vs 8 mile route, I decided to use a quote that I learned 3 years ago from a wise runner when training for my first marathon..."It doesnt matter how you run as long as your putting miles in the bank"...and I choose the 8 miles route knowing alot more disappointment of the walk/run was to come. When I finished I pressed the "Finish Flag" on my Strava App to find the awful results of this first long run of the marathon journey and to finally catch my breath. When I viewed my results I realized that my run was better than I thought and I had run a 9:37 min/mile for 8 miles. While this is a far cry from my previous times were when I was a hard core runner it was better than expected, and I came to the conclusion that while I didnt think it was an AMAZING first run, it was definately an accomplishment and something to grow from. I then realized after my run that I had forgot the pain and tiredness that accompanies marathon training and came to the conclusion this will be a long, painful, rewarding journey. And thats my first long run of marathon training for Nike Women's Marathon San Francisco.
Long Run: 8.0 miles at 9:37 min/mile!

Sweating for the Wedding: Nike Womens San Francisco Marathon Tiffany's Necklace (10/20/13)
In a spure of a moment decision, I decided to sign up for a marathon I had only dreamed of attending one day. Usually to attend the Nike Women's San Francisco Marathon you must apply for a raffle and hope and pray they pick your name. But in finishing up my college career I realized I was eligible for automatic entry and a discount rate. So I through OMG THATS AMAZING and then went OMG CAN I DO A MARATHON 4 MONTHS FROM NOW AND TRAIN IN FLORIDA'S SUMMER HEAT. So I went to my dad (like I do with all my problems) and like he did 3.5 years ago when I signed up for my first Marathon (Disney 2010) he said you CAN DO IT. So I signed up that night and well have accepted the face that the next 4 months will be filled with RUNNNING, RUNNING AND MORE RUNNING.
So, in a effort to keep track of my running efforts I decided to blog about my daily progress.
So today is Day #3...
Day #1 (6/4/2013): 5 miles at 10:00 min/mile pace on treadmill at 0.0 incline
Day #2 (6/5/2013): 3.1 miles at 8:13 min/mile pace on treadmill at 0.0 incline
Day #3 (6/6/2013): 6.0 miles at 9:13 min/mile pace on treadmill at 0.0 incline
